Tom Brady Sr. Would Be 'Very Hesitant' to Let Tom Play As a Kid If Making the Decision TodayIf Tom Brady Sr. was confronted today with the decision of whether or not to allow his son to play football as a boy, it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for one of the league's greatest quarterbacks to never throw an NFL pass.

As Tom Sr. told Yahoo! Sports' Mike Silver recently, he would be "very hesitant" to let his son, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, play football. Citing the increased knowledge of possible health risks — highlighted by the suicides of former players Dave Duerson and Junior Seau — Brady Sr. said that it would be scary for him to send one of his kids onto the gridiron.

As it was, Brady didn't start playing football until he was 14 years old because his parents didn't think he was physically ready to play before that age.

The elder Brady conceded he'd likely still let his son play if he really wanted to, if confronted with that same decision today — but said that it would be a very hard decision to make.
