After continuing their Midwest doldrums with a loss to the Indians in their first game back at Fenway Park, the Red Sox ripped off three in a row — each in more convincing fashion.
Leading the way were quality starts, with Clay Buchholz, Felix Doubront and Daniel Bard each putting up one of their best performances of the season.
Buchholz entered Friday night's game having given up at least five earned runs in each of his starts so far this year. But he went into the seventh inning on Friday, allowing three earned runs on eight hits as the Sox won 7-5.
Doubront, coming off of the longest outing of his young career, continued to be impressive in Saturday's 4-1 Boston win. He went six innings, striking out five while allowing just one earned run.
And Bard capped off the great series Sunday. While the Boston bats controlled the 12-1 win, Bard wasn't so bad himself. He gave up one run in his six innings pitched and struck out two.
