Vote: Will Jarrod Saltalamacchia Hit 20 Home Runs This Season?Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit one of the longest home runs of the season on Sunday. In fact, the 466-foot shot to center field during the Red Sox 5-1 win in Philadelphia was the third longest homer hit this season.

The Red Sox catcher has been showing off the powerful stroke that many expected at the start of his young career. Saltalamacchia has already hit seven home runs this season, nearly halfway to the 16 longballs he totaled in 2011.

The recent power surge is a positive sign for the 27-year-old and has Sox fans salivating at the thought of some more consistent power numbers from the catcher’s position. Sunday’s towering home run certainly accomplishes that feat, but it also adds another layer of intrigue given the catcher’s unbelievably long name.

Saltalamacchia owns one of the longest names in sports and the longest full name in baseball with 20 letters. So it got us thinking about whether the powerful backstop could actually hit more home runs than letters in his name in 2012.

Do you think Saltalamacchia can punch out 20 homers this season?

Will Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit as many home runs this season as the number of letters in his first and last name?
