Celtics, Heat Game 7 Officials Could Lead to Long Night for Players, FansHopefully, LeBron James and Kevin Garnett are not foolish enough to believe they will be the ones everyone wants to watch Saturday night in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Head official Joey Crawford will be on hand to make sure his crew is the real main event.

The referee assignments for Game 7 were announced at 9 a.m. Saturday, as they are every game day, and the roster should strike fear in the hearts of anyone who prefers clean, organized, rhythmic basketball. Crawford, Mike Callahan and Scott Foster will officiate the game, with Ed Malloy as the alternate.

The bad news for Celtics fans is that home teams have won 75 percent of the time Crawford has been on the court in the playoffs, according to NBAStuffer.com. Home teams have won 58 percent of the time in games Foster officiated this postseason, while Callahan is 50-50. The bad news for all basketball fans is that they can be assured of a referee huddle after every other play, and they’re in store for several instances of two officials having separate calls on the same play.

Oh, and nobody calls more technical fouls per game than Callahan and Foster, who blow their whistles for conduct violations 3.1 and 2.4 times per game, respectively. Garnett will have to be careful.
