Clay Buchholz Throws Complete Game Shutout to Win Amica Pitcher of the WeekAfter early season struggles, the Red Sox' starting pitching seems to be coming around. All three starting pitchers who threw this week posted solid performances in Boston's homestand against the Baltimore Orioles.

Jon Lester allowed only two earned runs in six innings of work during Tuesday night's extra-inning loss. Josh Beckett looked great, dominating the Orioles for eight innings, only allowing two earned runs in a 2-1 loss for the Sox. Although these two tried their best, Clay Buchholz went above and beyond on the mound to earn the Amica Pitcher of the Week award.

Buchholz didn't just start strong; he ended strong. The righty threw a complete game shutout, striking out six batters while only allowing one walk. His dominance stayed strong throughout the night, throwing 125 pitches in the game. The Red Sox gave ample Buchholz ample run support, winning the game 7-0 on Thursday night.

With the win, Buchholz improved to 6-2 on the season with his third career shutout. For his efforts, Clay Buchholz is this week's Amica Pitcher of the Week.
