David Ortiz Leads Designated Hitters After First Round of All-Star VotingDavid Ortiz may not be participating in this year’s Home Run Derby, but it’s looking likely that he’ll have a role in this year’s All-Star Game anyway.

The Red Sox designated hitter leads all DH candidates after one round of MLB All-Star voting, with a whopping 1,204,904 votes. His second-place challenger, Michael Young, trails by close to 200,000 votes with about three weeks left.

Josh Hamilton leads all vote-getters with a staggering 2,587,991 votes. The Texas outfielder is deserving, to say the least, considering his mind-boggling stats to being the year. His Rangers also are well-represented overall — five Rangers players currently in line for an All-Star nod at their respective positions.

Matt Kemp is second in overall votes with 1,952,910, but the Dodgers outfielder will have some catching up to do if he wants to challenge Hamilton.

Voting continues through June 28, and fans can cast up to 25 votes per email address at MLB.com.
