Nothing beats a good old-fashioned spitball.
Apparently, spitballs aren't just a thing of the past, as Tigers closer Jose Valverde may have throw one during Sunday's game against the Reds.
While we can't really be certain, Valverde appeared to spit into his glove before delivering a 1-2 pitch to Cincinnati's Devin Mesoraco, which has led to widespread speculation. In fact, Mat Latos' wife, Dallas, has been the one leading the charge, disseminating videos of the questionable incident.
We'll see if Major League Baseball takes a closer look at Valverde's actions, but it clearly seems like he added a little saliva to his two-strike offering. At this point, though, it could just be one of those things that you simply can't prove nor discipline.
