Miami Heat Give the Larry O'Brien Trophy a Contemporary LookWell, this is what LeBron James had in mind, all along.

The Miami Heat Celebrated its 2012 NBA championship with a victory parade through the streets of the city, culminating with a reception inside AmericanAirlines Arena, in which the players took individual moments to reflect on the past season. However, the team’s fashion sense may have trumped all other storylines.

During the reception, at one point Dwyane Wade took his thick-rimmed glasses and placed them on the trophy. In fact, several members of the Heat were wearing similar frames, including coach Erik Spoelstra and team managing general partner Micky Arison. Even team president Pat Riley got in to the act, matching his slicked-back hair with a more contemporary hipster look.

Whether or not the glasses were a theme akin to the Lakers’ “Bling Bling” championships remains to be scene, but ultimately, it was the fulfillment of a longtime plan for James, and the capturing of a second championship for co-star Wade.

“It’s the best feeling I’ve ever had,” said James. “This was my dream, right here, to be able to hoist that Larry O’Brien Trophy up, hug it, grab it, never want to let it go.”

Someone might want to ask some diehard Cavaliers fans how they feel about the King’s first championship, but for now James gets to celebrate.
