Jamie Moyer Released by Orioles, 49-Year-Old Was Oldest Pitcher Ever to Win a GameThe Baltimore Orioles did not promote 49-year-old Jamie Moyer from the minor leagues after three starts. Moyer requested a move, and that’s just what the Orioles did.

Baltimore released the oldest active player in professional baseball on Saturday. He was released by the Rockies on May 30 and signed a minor league contract with the Orioles on June 6.

When Moyer signed the contract, he expected to make three starts at Triple-A Norfolk. If he was not promoted after three starts, he was to be granted his release from the team.

Despite going 1-1 with a 1.69 ERA in three starts for Norfolk, Moyer was not promoted and wanted to be released.
