Phillie Phanatic Sued for Throwing Woman Into Hotel PoolThe Phillie Phanatic is one of sports’ most well-known mascots. But his antics have gotten him in hot water in the past and one of those incidents is just now coming to the surface — no pun intended.

The Phanatic was allegedly at The Golden Inn in Avalon, New Jersey in July 2010 when Suzanne Pierce claims it picked her up and threw her into the hotel pool.

While the pool was filled with water, Pierce says she was hurt pretty badly after landing in the shallow end, suffering “severe and permanent injuries to her head, neck, back, body, arms and legs, bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves and tissues.”

So she decided to sue the Phillie Phanatic, as her medical bills have piled up. The lawsuit is not seeking a specific amount.

According to the report, a spokeswoman for the Phillies said the team is aware of the lawsuit but does not believe the mascot engaged in “wrongful conduct.”
