Report: Marlon Byrd Released by Red Sox Days After Being Designated for Assignment

Marlon Byrd‘s time in Boston has come to an end.

The Red Sox reportedly released the veteran outfielder on Tuesday, days after designating him for assignment to make room for Daisuke Matsuzaka on the roster.

After coming over from the Cubs in exchange for Michael Bowden and a player to be named later, Byrd batted .270 during his 34 games in a Red Sox uniform.
