ZimBear Giveaway at Tropicana Field Inspires Rays Fans to Find Creative Activities for Critter (Photos)There have been many bobblehead night and giveaways that have been popular around the league, but Friday night’s “ZimBear” promotion in Tampa Bay may have surpassed them all. At the very least, it will be giving rival teams nightmares.

The Tampa Bay Rays gave away 10,000 ZimBears to fans on Friday night, in honor of the team’s bench coach Don Zimmer.

While Red Sox fans may remember Zimmer from his time coaching in Boston — or more likely from when Pedro Martinez threw him to the ground in a brawl — citizens of Tampa will likely have Zimmer’s image burned into their retinas from these little critters.

The ZimBear is pretty much exactly what you would think it is — half Zimmer, half bear, all terrifying. But the Rays are having some fun with is and asked fans to find activities for their new friends to do during the game.
