The commish is siding with the La Russa.
Baker and La Russa have exchanged comments through the media over the past couple of days after La Russa, who is managing the National League All-Star team, left a couple of key members of the Reds off his squad. There's no love lost between the Reds and Cardinals, and the bad blood had Baker questioning La Russa's decisions, especially not including Johnny Cueto.
However, Selig has come to La Russa's defense when it comes to the All-Star Game roster.
"Well let me just say this: Tony will answer all questions about his team," Selig said, according to MLB.com. "But you look at the list of pitchers, and I went over that with Tony, and I think in the end there were a lot of pitchers available. And I think in the end, they picked their strongest staffs.
"Every year, there's always some struggles. We've had less controversy this year. Everybody would like to have all their players on, but in fairness to the Cincinnati Reds, they have three players on [the NL team], and that's a strong showing."
Joey Votto, Jay Bruce and Aroldis Chapman were all named as All-Star selections for the Reds.
