Cameron Maybin Blasts Longest Home Run in Majors This Season (Video)

Cameron Maybin isn’t known for his power, but that might be about to change.

The Padres center fielder launched the longest home run in the majors this season at 485 feet on Monday night. It came off Trevor Cahill in the sixth inning, and it landed in Chase Field’s left-center field picnic area.

The blast, which is only Maybin’s fourth of the season, is the longest ever hit by an opponent at Chase Field. It also marks just the 26th home run of Maybin’s career, which spans 380 games and 1,331 at-bats.

With numbers like that, it’s not surprising that Matt Kemp left him off his Home Run Derby squad. Clearly, there’s more power in Maybin’s bat than we’ve seen thus far, though, and the Pads are probably hoping a shot like this translates into further success.

Maybin is hitting just over .200 this season, while featuring a dismal .287 on-base percentage.

Numbers aside, check out Monday’s mammoth shot in the video below, courtesy of MLB.com.
