Chad Ochocinco Invites Grieving Widow to His Wedding After Responding to TweetChad Ochocinco has left the Patriots, but he’s showing why fans still have a reason to root for him.

The former Patriots wide receiver is getting married to reality TV star Evelyn Lozada on July 4, which is sure to be a special day for him and his new wife. It will also be a special day for Cheryl Minton, a grieving widow that Ochocinco invited to his wedding over Twitter in response to Minton’s request for Ocho to “pray for her.”

A few tweets later, the Dolphins wideout was instructing the Franklin, Ohio native that he had never met to pack her bags and find her passport, because she was coming to his wedding. Check out the transcript of their public conversation below.

According to Minton, the Fourth of July would have been her 28th wedding anniversary, but after her husband passed away, she was not looking forward to spending it alone. Thanks to Ochocinco, now she won’t have to.

This isn’t doing something for the attention or for a pat on the back — this isn’t going to earn him any goodwill from Roger Goodell when Ocho inevitably showboats for the Dolphins. It won’t mean anything in terms of X’s and O’s and won’t translate into any receiving yards. It’s just a nice moment, a human moment, that Ochocinco knows enough to recognize and to make happen.

If you can take a step back and look at the big picture at a time like this, you can realize it doesn’t matter how many touchdown passes Ochocinco connects with his quarterback on this year — because he can connect with a regular person in a moment like this.
