Dustin Pedroia Returns to Red Sox Lineup, Hits Third in Series Finale With White SoxIt's been a week of returns for the Red Sox, and that will continue Thursday night when Dustin Pedroia returns for the Red Sox.

The second baseman has been sidelined since July 3 with a sprained right thumb, and he was activated on Thursday. However, instead of returning to his customary second spot in the lineup, Pedroia will hit third in the series finale with the White Sox.

That's because Carl Crawford — fresh off a return of his own — has settled in nicely in the second spot since returning for the Sox on Monday. The left fielder has five hits in 10 at bats since returning to action, with all of those at bats coming from the No. 2 hole in the lineup.

Former Red Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis, who has five hits in three games in his return to Boston, is not in the Chicago lineup. According to reports, Youkilis is battling some hamstring tightness.
