Mark Teixeira Calls Vicente Padilla's Assertions 'Completely Erroneous,' Jokes That Women's Boxing Is ToughBOSTON –– Mark Teixeira found the retaliation humorous.

When informed of Vicente Padilla's comments to NESN.com –– in response to Teixeira's initial jab on Friday –– the Yankees first baseman refuted the notion that he experienced issues with Latin players in Texas.

"That's crazy," Teixeira said. "But I wouldn't expect anything else really. If that's the case, then I ask you guys to interview every one of my Latin teammates in this clubhouse right now and ask them. That's why it's funny. It's completely erroneous."

During their time with the Rangers in 2006 and 2007, Padilla said that Teixeira once threatened to hit him with a bat. The Red Sox reliever also added that the slugger encountered problems with Frank Francisco –– the team's closer at the time.

But in a pregame news conference before Sunday's game, Yankees skipper Joe Girardi downplayed the vitriol between the pair and defended Teixeira's integrity in the New York clubhouse.

"Tex gets along with all of his teammates," Girardi said. "Tex's a good teammate. Everyone's going to have their opinion, but Tex's a good guy and that's the bottom line. And he's a tough guy. And I don't mean that in a sense that he likes to bully. I mean that he plays hurt all the time."

As for Padilla's claim that Teixeira should try women's sports? Well, the slugger retorted with a joke of his own.

"I guess women's boxing is pretty tough," Teixeira said. "I don't know if I could handle that."

Either way, the dislike between the duo is mutual.
