Report: Bobby Valentine 'Wouldn't Be Surprised' If Will Middlebrooks Lands on Disabled List on TuesdayWill Middlebrooks‘ hamstring injury was enough to take him out of Monday’s game, but it wasn’t enough to land him on the disabled list — yet.

Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine kept that option open Monday night, saying he “wouldn’t be surprised if we have someone here” Tuesday to take Middlebrooks’ spot, according to Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe.

The Red Sox have had to make such speedy maneuvers several times this season, with about 20 players spending time on the disabled list at some point.

“He feels better today than he did yesterday and better than he expected to be today,” Valentine said Monday. “That’s the only news we have, and that’s good. It’s not discolored, and that’s good. But it’s going to be some days … maybe DL, maybe a few days. It’s just one of those injuries.”

Middlebrooks was hurt sliding into second base in the ninth inning of the Red Sox’ 2-1 win on Sunday. He battled a similar injury earlier this season.
