That’s a rookie move, bro.
Anthony Davis — a national champion, a No. 1 overall pick and now an Olympian — cut his minutes down a little more than usual during Team USA’s blowout of Nigeria on Thursday. It’s not because of something he did, though. It’s because of something he didn’t do.
Davis forgot to wear his jersey during the first half of USA’s 156-73 beatdown, forcing head coach Mike Krzyzewski to turn away from using him despite the team’s early, monstrous lead. Davis actually ran up to the scorer’s table to check into the game, but he quickly realized that he never put on his jersey after warm-ups, thus leaving him sitting on the bench — likely embarrassed — in sweats.
Davis’ teammates certainly weren’t going to let the incident go unnoticed, and they could be seen dying laughing at the rookie’s expense. Kevin Love even took to Twitter on Friday to continue his heckling.
Check out Love’s tweet and the photo below — complete with a jersey-less Davis.
