Carl Crawford Has Big Day, Makes Bobby Valentine Wish Every Day Was Left Fielder's BirthdayBOSTON –– The birthday boy received his wish –– a victory.

On top of toppling the Twins 6-4, Carl Crawford also keyed the Red Sox with three hits, including a double and an RBI. During his last nine games, the outfielder is batting .333 (12-for-36) with three home runs and nine RBIs.

"I’d like his birthday to be every day," Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine said. "He was hitting with two strikes. He was hitting the ball hard, stealing bases. You saw it. Advanced the runner. Had a damn near perfect game. When he’s like that, it can make a big difference."

Crawford also showed off his wheels, swiping his first base since his first game off the disabled list. And at least on this day, it was shades of the old Crawford that became a four-time, All-Star in Tampa Bay.

"At times and today was the time," Crawford said, when asked if he's feeling like his former self. "Just different times, but it's a process. You like to do well on your birthday. You always hope for the best on your birthday."

For the record, Crawford is now 31 years old.
