Everyone wants a piece of Usain Bolt these days.
In what is becoming some sort of hip trend, another non-sprinter is confident he could go step-for-step with Bolt in the 40-yard dash. This time around, it's Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson.
"I've watched [Bolt] run, and I'm pretty sure I can beat him in a 40-yard dash," Robinson said at Michigan's media day on Sunday, according to FOXSportsDetroit.com. "I'd get a better start, and I could take him."
That's some serious confidence from the senior signal caller. Bolt, of course, is coming off a sweep of the 100 meters and 200 meters at the London Olympics, and he's widely considered the fastest man on the planet. Robinson admits, though, that there are some limitations when it comes to outrunning Bolt.
"At 60 yards, I'd be in trouble, and at 100 meters, he'd be gone, but I could get him in a 40," Robinson said.
While most of the world finds these blind proclamations to be laughable, especially because of how common they're becoming (Chris Johnson also thinks he could beat Bolt in a race), one of Robinson's teammates, Devin Gardner, is confident in Robinson's speed.
"Denard could do that in a heartbeat -– he's the fastest man in the world," Gardner said. "I know what Usain Bolt did in the Olympics, and Denard probably couldn't beat him at 100 meters, but when it comes to football speed at 40 yards, I'd take Denard. He's that fast."
Somewhere, Bolt chuckles.
