Former Patriots linebacker Eric Naposki was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for murdering Bill McLaughlin, the live-in boyfriend of his lover Nanette Ann Packard McNeal.
Naposki had been convicted of the crime — which took place in 1994 — last year, but had awaited sentencing until Friday.
According to prosecutors, Naposki and McNeal conspired to kill McLaughlin and collect on his $1 million life insurance policy. McNeal was convicted in January for her part in the conspiracy to murder, and received the same sentence as Naposki back in May: life without parole.
Naposki, who played four games with the Pats between 1988 and 1989, maintained his innocence at the sentencing, prompting McLaughlin's daughter to proclaim him "full of lies."
