Wednesday was a good day for the Americans in London.
Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings finished off their spectacular Olympic run as a team by winning their third consecutive gold medal.
The United States has 82 medals, 34 gold. Although the Americans have more medals than China (77), the U.S. is second in the standings because China has two more gold medals (36).
The men's basketball team continued to dominate in their quest for the gold medal by cruising to victory over Australia, while Allyson Felix took home the gold in the women's 200-meter final.

The U.S. and Australia have met in the gold medal final game in the past, but will face off a bit earlier this time around in the semifinals. The American women will look to hold off their rival as they head towards winning yet another gold medal.

Wallace Spearmon, the lone American representative in the final, will be racing against Jamaican stars — and 100-meter gold and silver medalists – Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake.

Americans Will Claye and Christian Taylor will be among the twelve men competing in the triple jump final.
2:35 p.m., NBC Sports Network — Women's Soccer Gold Final: USA vs. Japan
