Ozzie Guillen Ready to Turn to FBI, DEA to Protect Giancarlo Stanton in Marlins LineupIf you’re a Major League Baseball pitcher, you might want to avoid pitching to Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton.

Because if you do decide to pitch to the guy who’s built like a brick outhouse, very bad things can happen to you. Things like this. Or this. And this.

The decision to give Stanton anything in the strike zone becomes even more insane when you consider how anemic the Miami offense is and has been lately. That led the Colorado Rockies to intentionally walk Stanton twice on Sunday.

You have to assume that will only continue, as Stanton has seven home runs and 15 RBIs this month. It has manager Ozzie Guillen scrambling to find a way to protect Stanton in the lineup. He’s doing some outside-the-box thinking in that quest.

“I need the [expletive] FBI to protect that guy because anyone on this [expletive] team, he can’t” Guillen said, according to the Sun Sentinel. “No one. I need the DEA, the FBI and a SWAT team to protect him.”

That might be the only thing that Guillen would be able to do, as he continues to be criticized for not finding a suitable way to protect Stanton, regardless of what the results may actually be.

“Why you not protecting Stanton?” Guillen continued. “Wait a minute. Did you see him hit three home runs … and you don’t know who was behind him? [Sunday] he walked twice and I think [Donnie] Murphy is a little bit better than [DonovanSolano and the kid [Rob Brantly]. That’s why people think they know about baseball and they’re full of [expletive]. They make a [expletive] excuse to second guess the manager.”

Guillen will probably take little solace in the fact that no matter what lineup he sends out there, Stanton will likely see fewer and fewer pitches given his ability to obliterate anything near the plate.
