Ryan Dempster missed one start earlier this season
because of passport problems. But it looks like the Rangers pitcher isn’t the
only one to run into travel issues.
Rays starter David Price also left his passport at home
this week on the eve of a series against the Blue Jays, an AL East foe.
Fortunately for Price — who was in Texas facing Dempster’s team — he came up with the idea
of flying out a friend to meet him in Dallas.
His friend, Tim Herbert, came to the rescue, picking up
Price’s passport and personally delivering it to him in Dallas. From there,
they both wound up flying to Toronto on Thursday.
It worked out perfectly since Herbert was planning on
heading over to Toronto for the weekend anyway. There was just one downside for
Price.
“I’ve worn the same clothes for two straight
days,” Price told the Tampa Bay Times.
But it could’ve been worse. Price’s original plan was to
rack up the frequent flier miles and travel from Dallas to Tampa Bay to Toronto
all on Thursday.
