Alfredo Aceves Suspended After Slamming Bobby Valentine's Office DoorBOSTON — Alfredo Aceves has been suspended for conduct
detrimental to the team.

When the Red Sox opted to use Andrew Bailey for a
four-out save in Friday's 4-3 win over the Royals, Aceves — the team's closer
this season — was furious. He stormed into Red Sox manager
Bobby Valentine's office after the game for a heated talk.

Aceves wound up leaving the room and slammed Valentine's
office door in disgust. The Red Sox cited that action Saturday when announcing Aceves had been suspended.

In the ninth inning of Thursday's 14-13 loss to the
Angels, Aceves squandered a two-run lead by giving up a home run to Vernon
Wells
as well as RBI singles to Torii Hunter and Mark Trumbo.

Aceves tossed 34 pitches in the outing, seemingly a
reason why Valentine avoided using him Friday. The 29-year-old is going
through a rough patch — he's blown three of his last five save
opportunities.

"I'm a little disappointed," Valentine
said. "You've just got to know the difference between right and wrong.
That's all we ask."

The closer has converted 25 of 32 saves this season.
