Brooklyn Nets’ Court at Barclays Center Features Herringbone Pattern (Photo)

A select few NBA venues can be identified with one glance at the court. The parquet floor is synonymous with the Boston Celtics, no matter how much the Orlando Magic try to steal it. The odd lighting in Madison Square Garden makes it obvious to a TV viewer that the Knicks are playing at home. Even the Charlotte Hornets once had a instantly recognizable, if tacky, court design with area inside the 3-point arc painted in unmistakably mid-1990s shades of teal and purple.

The Brooklyn Nets are looking for that type of individuality with their new home court at the Barclays Center. The hardwood features a two-toned hard maple herringbone pattern that would be unique in the NBA, although in photos on the Nets website, the design appears to have the effect of making the court look unusually dark.

The court is not the only aesthetically intriguing aspect of the Nets' new home. The exterior of the Barclays Center is intentionally rusted to give it a "weathered" look.
