Much of the attention this offseason has focused on the efforts of the Lakers and Nets to bolster their rosters to compete with the Heat and Thunder for the 2013 title. Those efforts have even overshadowed the moves made by last year's finalists this offseason to strengthen their own chances a making it back to the NBA Finals.
One team that everyone seems to be overlooking, though, is the Knicks. And Chris Bosh thinks that is a mistake.
Bosh spoke with ESPN.com and expressed a willingness to play center — a position he has resisted playing since going to Miami from Toronto in 2010. His move to center after returning from an abdominal injury in the Eastern Conference Finals was a turning point in the Heat's championship run, and Bosh is willing to consider staying at that spot if it means another ring or two.
Still, Bosh does not believe winning the East will be easy. There are the Celtics, of course, who came within one win of beating the Heat in the conference finals, as well as the greatly improved Nets and Sixers, not to mention the improving Pacers.
Oh yeah, and… the Knicks?
"I just wanna say — the freakin' Knicks, man. I think they're going to be a good team," Bosh told ESPN.com. "Nobody's really talking about them, and I don't like it. They're flying under the radar right now. I think the Knicks are gonna be a very good team."
The most high-profile move the Knicks made this offseason was their decision not to match the Rockets' offer sheet to Jeremy Lin, who signed a three-year deal with Houston. Yet the Knicks added point guards Jason Kidd, Raymond Felton and Pablo Prigioni, veteran center Marcus Camby and defensive specialist Ronnie Brewer, as well as re-signed guard J.R. Smith and forward Steve Novak.
The lineup pales in comparison to the prospective lineups in place for the Heat, Celtics or Pacers, but Bosh is entitled to his opinion.
