Greg Salas got a bit of a demotion on Wednesday, one day after being waived by the Patriots.

ESPN.com reports Salas was signed to the team's practice squad on Wednesday. The wide receiver was acquired from the Rams for a late-round conditional draft pick in 2015.

Salas was a fourth-round-pick by the Rams out of Hawaii in 2011. He played under current Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels while in St. Louis and will be a nice piece to store in case of injury.

Salas was released from the team in favor of Deion Branch, who made his return to practice Wednesday.
