Matt Schaub is lucky he didn't lose his entire head. He did, however, lose a piece of his ear.

The Houston Texans quarterback was the victim of a vicious helmet-to-helmet hit from Denver Broncos linebacker Joe Mays on Sunday afternoon. The hit, which sent Schaub's helmet flying, shook the quarterback up and forced him to the sideline momentarily.

It also left Schaub bleeding from the ear, which is an obvious cause for concern.

As Schaub revealed after the game, though, the blood wasn't from something wrong inside his head, but rather it was "only" that he was missing a piece of his ear.

"I felt fine," Schaub said after the game. "I just lost a piece of my ear. I was bleeding and my helmet came off. So, I had to come out for a play, but I was fine."
