The Red Sox snapped their seven-game losing streak with a 4-3 win over the Mariners on Tuesday night and hope to end their miserable nine-game road trip with a win on Wednesday.
Boston will send Aaron Cook to the mound, hoping he will rebound from his outing last Friday against the Oakland A's in which he gave up six runs in just 2 2/3 innings. Some good news for Cook and the Sox is that the right-hander won his last outing against the Mariners back on June 29.
On the hill for the Mariners will be veteran Kevin Millwood, who is looking for his first win since July 28. Millwood has struggled this season, posting a 4-12 record and a 4.38 ERA.
The odds seem to be in the Red Sox' favor, as Millwood hasn't beaten Boston since 2009, when he was with the Texas Rangers.
If the Sox are patient and let Millwood work his own way into trouble and take advantage with runners in scoring position, they should be able to head home to Boston with a modest two-game winning streak.
