Injuries are starting to pile up across the NFL, which means players without teams may start getting an increased amount of phone calls regarding their services.
One of the players expected by many to make a return to the league sooner rather than later is defensive end Andre Carter. The veteran played with the Patriots last season and was an impact player for New England, serving as the club's best pass rusher.
Carter's season came to an abrupt end in December, though, when a quadriceps injury led to surgery. Carter is still recovering from that, but he has reportedly worked out for teams, and there is reported interest in the 33-year-old from a handful of teams.
CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora reported on Tuesday morning that the Patriots and the Raiders both have interest in the defensive end, although it sounds like Oakland is further along in the process.

Carter reportedly worked out for the Cardinals last week, and there are some who think the Redskins could be eventually be an option after losing Adam Carriker and Brian Orakpo for the season. The 2011 Pro Bowl selection had 10 sacks in 14 games last season for the Patriots.
