Report: P.K. Subban's Name Comes Up in Trade Discussions Between Canadiens, FlyersP.K. Subban
is believed to be working toward a contract extension with the Canadiens, but it isn't a done deal just yet, so perhaps we shouldn't rule anything out.

The Flyers and Canadiens have at least chatted about a trade involving Subban, according to RDS.ca's Bertrand Raymond.

Raymond's report, which is written in French, indicates (via Google's translator) that the Flyers presumably initiated discussions involving the 23-year-old defenseman. Philadelphia is believed to be seeking defensive help this offseason, and has been stymied thus far in its pursuit, which included losing out on Shea Weber after the Predators matched the Flyers' monstrous offer sheet.

Raymond reports that forward Sean Couturier's name came up when the Canadiens and Flyers chatted, but that it's unlikely Philadelphia would want to move Couturier, who has been impressive since being drafted in the first round two years ago.

In other words, there's a good chance the rumor doesn't amount to much and Subban ends up inking an extension to stay north of the border, but the Flyers are clearly still being aggressive in their quest for help along the blue line.

Subban is currently a restricted free agent, so technically, the Flyers could extend an offer sheet to the Ontario native. However, given his performance and the Canadiens' apparent desire to keep Subban, they'd likely match most offers.
