Peyton Manning helped lead the new-look Denver Broncos to a big win Sunday night. But while the new quarterback was establishing the start of his era in the Mile High city, one Broncos teammate made sure to pay his respects to the team’s old signal caller.

Von Miller, the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2011, picked up where he left off last season on Sunday night. The Broncos linebacker capped off a 31-19 victory with a pair of sacks on the Steelers’ final drive. But while he helped close out the win in Manning’s debut, Miller also made sure to pay homage to the man who paved the way for Manning in the first place.

Tim Tebow led the Broncos to a postseason berth and a miraculous overtime win against the very same Steelers team during last year’s playoffs. So, as Tebow suited up for the New York Jets on Sunday, Miller displayed Tebow’s signature move in Denver to show his respect.

Miller, who had just taken down Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger two snaps earlier, lined up on the outside on a 3rd-and-5 deep in Pittsburgh territory. The young linebacker quickly busted through a gap in the offensive line and got to Roethlisberger for his second sack of the drive and the night. Miller then proceeded to slowly climb off of the fallen quarterback and immediately dropped onto one knee with his hand to his head, seemingly praying — or as it is more widely known, “Tebowing.”

The celebration was an honorable way to show appreciation for all Tebow accomplished with the Broncos, but it also officially signaled the end of Tebowmania in Denver and, in turn, the start of Peyton’s reign.

The Broncos are now 1-0 under Manning’s guidance and should be poised for a long postseason run, especially if Miller continues to lead the defense the way he did Sunday.
