Lolo Jones Taunts Wheelchair-Bound Eric LeGrand When Challenged to Race Without Knowing Who He IsLolo Jones
is known for being outspoken on her Twitter account, and has made news there before for showing off a boisterous personality.

On Tuesday, however, the Olympic hurdler went too far with some taunting comments that she made in response to a playful challenge by former Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand.

LeGrand, who is confined to a wheelchair after breaking his neck playing at Rutgers, challenged Jones to a race via tweet. Jones, taking LeGrand’s challenge at face value, responded aggressively.

“Get checked for a concussion,” she responded. “Clearly, [you’ve] been hit in the head.”

The touchy part, of course, is that LeGrand was indeed hit in the head while covering a kickoff, leaving him paralyzed. He fractured his C3 and C4 vertebrae on the play, and is confined to a wheelchair to this day.

“I had no clue who he was,” she later tweeted at a follower. “He challenged me to a race. So I assumed he could actually race.”

LeGrand took it all in stride, calling things “all good” from his end. Jones, however, stayed on the defensive and had not publicly apologized to LeGrand as of this writing.

A transcript of the exchange on Twitter is posted below.
