Report: Dodgers Open to Trading Andre Ethier Even After Outfielder's $85 Million Contract ExtensionAndre Ethier
signed a huge contract extension with the Dodgers earlier this season, leading many to believe that the 30-year-old would be patrolling the outfield at Chavez Ravine for years to come. However, the Dodgers might be having some buyer's remorse.

The Dodgers are now open to trading Ethier, according to ESPN's Buster Olney, despite the left-handed hitter's five-year, $85 million dollar extension he signed in June.

Ethier batted .284 with 20 home runs and 89 RBIs in 2012, but struggled mightily when facing left-handed pitching. He hit just .222 against lefties this season, so the Dodgers could be looking to move someone they now view as a platoon player instead of an everyday contributor.

The right fielder has been linked to the Red Sox previously, in part because of his friendship with second baseman Dustin Pedroia. While it appeared that Ethier's contract extension would keep him in L.A., if he is indeed available again, Boston might be interested.
