Hockey East was well represented in holiday tournaments across the nation over the weekend, while No. 14 New Hampshire defeated Maine, 5-4, in the first league game of 2009.

The UMass Hockey team fell to No. 10 Cornell 5-2 Sunday afternoon at the Mullins Center. Chris Davis and T.J. Syner both had power play goals for the Minutemen.

Senior Benn Ferriero netted the game-winning goal at 4:16 of the third period to lift Boston College to a 4-2 international exhibition victory over the University of New Brunswick on Saturday in the Aitken Centre.
UMASS LOWELL DOWNED BY UNION, 2-1
Matt Ferreria scored his third goal of the season, but Union College defeated UMass Lowell, 2-1, in the consolation game of the Shillelagh Tournament Saturday afternoon at the Sears Centre.
