John Henry to Receive Woodrow Wilson Award

The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars of the Smithsonian Institution will present the Woodrow Wilson Award for Corporate Citizenship to Red Sox principal owner John W. Henry at a dinner to be held on Nov. 19, 2009 at the Fairmont Copley Hotel in Boston. At the event, Nicholas Negroponte will also receive the Woodrow Wilson Award for Public Service.

I had shoulder surgery a week ago Tuesday, so I left the keyboard alone for a few days. I'm glad to be back and feel very fortunate to once again see the Red Sox in the postseason.

Can We Let the David Ortiz Injustice Die?

Michael Schmidt of The New York Times recounted how he set out to obtain names sealed by court order of 100-plus Major League Baseball players who tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in 2003. He wrote a story on David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez.

During an interview on NESN with Tom Caron, Tom asked Mr. Schmidt, “Why didn’t they give you all the names on the list?” 

His response was, “Well, it’s illegal.”
