Just call them sneakers on steroids.
According to a report by The Associated Press, the NBA has banned its players from wearing Concept 1 sneakers. The shoes claim to increase a person's vertical leap.
In a statement by the league on Tuesday, the NBA said that "under league rules, players may not wear any shoe during a game that creates an undue competitive advantage."
The shoes were created by Athletics Propulsion Labs, a Los Angeles company started by former USC basketball walk-ons, twins Adam and Ryan Goldston. The Concept 1 has special spring-based technology designed to increase a players' vertical lift.
To afford the shoes, however, it would help if you earned an NBA salary. The Concept 1's are currently priced at $300 on the company's website.
