The San Francisco Giants’ road to the playoffs this year has been filled with timely pitching, hitting, running and catching.

But nothing capped another postseason-bound year like the catch that third baseman Pablo Sandoval pulled off Saturday night as the Giants locked up their division for good.

The Giants, 88-63 going into Saturday and needing just a win to swat away the quickly fading Dodgers, rode Madison Bumgarner‘s arm and some early hits to the lead Saturday night against the San Diego Padres.

But Sandoval earned the defining moment in the win.

In the fourth inning, Yonder Alonso popped up a foul along the third base line. Sandoval, while continuing his usual bubble-blowing exploits, gave chase and kept his eyes fixed on the ball all the way to the fence, where he reached out to snare the ball and flipped over the railing to make the acrobatic catch.

It was quite the move for the player dubbed Kung Fu Panda, and quite the night for the now-National League West-champion Giants.

Check out the great catch — complete with the bubble-blowing — in the video below.

“It’s very complicated and way too much for the average Joe to understand, but having said that, I will tell you this: The owners can basically be viewed as the ranch, and the players, and me included, are the cattle.”
