Former Notre Dame defensive coordinator Corwin Brown is heading to New England to coach the defensive backs, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Brown, who coached the Jets' secondary from 2004-06, was a 1993 Patriots draft pick and played defensive back for the Jets in 1997 and 1998 when Bill Belichick served as assistant coach and defensive backs coach. Following his eight-year NFL career that included a final stop in Detroit, Brown began his coaching career under Al Groh with the University of Virginia as special teams coach.

In January of 2007, Brown was named Rick Minter's replacement as defensive coordinator for the Fighting Irish. Upon Charlie Weis' termination from the University this past December, new Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly opted not to retain Brown, a 39-year-old Chicago native.
