Plans for the Kentucky Derby?

You may be planning on placing a few bets on the proceedings, but perhaps your best investment would have been to enjoy the festivities last year with a Kentucky classic, a 2010 Special Edition John Calipari Maker’s Mark bottle.

Even before Coach Cal guided the Wildcats to their first Final Four appearance of his tenure, the former Memphis coach was so popular that he had earned his own Maker’s Mark collectible. They retailed for $49, with there being so much demand that the first 1200 were given away via lottery, according to CBS18.

One year later, the bottles have doubled in value, now averaging $100 for purchase on eBay — truly a bourbon aging well.

Clearly, the sure-bet is always Calipari.
